Diabetes disease may hamper the health of a person if it is not managed and kept under control. A well-planned and systematic diabetes care routine can minimize risks of developing other serious diabetes-related health problems. It is important for a diabetic patient to be aware of the dos and don’ts in diabetes care management. It is totally up to the individual concerned to make sincere efforts in implementing diabetes care for himself. Consumption of small portions of food in short intervals of time is good for a diabetic patient. He should visit the doctors and other health caretakers regularly for health check-ups. As a part of diabetes care, he must also ensure that the prescribed drugs are taken on time everyday. He should stick to the diet and exercise schedule without lapses. Diabetes nutrition does not imply that just by eliminating sugary foods in a person’s diet, one can control diabetes. Diabetes diet must have whole grains, plenty of greens, fish, lean meat, and skimmed milk. Avoid tuberous vegetables, processed foods, and high-sugar products. Undue and unwarranted fatigue, thirst, hunger, frequent urination, numbness on feet etc. are some of the initial symptoms of diabetes that must not be overlooked.
